Alexander A. Campbell Jr. of Abington retired District Chief Boston Fire Department Headquarters Division passed away at his home Saturday Night December 21, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was 83. He was the beloved husband and sweetheart of 61 years to Mary E. (Mullen) Campbell. The loving father of Matthew A. Campbell of Weymouth, Annemarie Crane of Braintree, Janet Moynihan, Alexander A. Campbell 3rd, Robert M. Campbell, Paul E Campbell all of Abington, and Mary E. Campbell of Hanson and their families.  Brother of Robert F. Campbell retired BFD Marine Unit of Whitman, Carol O'Dowd of Pembroke, the late Lorraine Barsamian, Walter Campbell, and John Campbell BFD L-29. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 1 great grandson and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours in the MacKinnon Funeral Home 760 Washington St., Whitman Thursday Dec. 26th 3-7 PM.

Funeral Mass on Friday in St. Bridget's Church, Abington at 9 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.

Internment at St Patrick's Cemetery, Rockland.

Member of Boston Firefighters Local 718 and International Assoc. of Firefighters. Korean War Veteran U.S. Navy and member of the USS Rochester CA-124 Assoc. Al loved history, especially Historian Michael Beshloff, and reading about past wars and Government. He played football and baseball for the Dorchester Gales. He also loved to go dancing with his "sweetheart" wife Mary every Saturday night.
