Leo Patrick Freeman of Halifax, Mass. passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at the Ruth McLain Hospice Home in Braintree. He was formerly of Quincy, Pembroke, and Salem, Massachusetts and passed away after a brief illness.  He was the beloved husband of Georgia (Gardikis) Freeman with whom he shared 35 years of marriage.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late John and Belinda (Kennedy) Freeman who immigrated to the U.S. from Ireland. Leo was predeceased by his brothers John J. Freeman, James E. Freeman, Thomas F. Freeman and his sister Marion Mercier.

He was raised and educated in Salem and graduated from Salem High School and Bentley College.  He then obtained a Massachusetts Real Estate Brokers License. He also had a distinguished career as a CPA at Country Farm Estates (real estate developer). He loved his work as a mortgage broker and business financier and was Owner and President of General Capital Company; Mortgage Broker at New England Merchants Corporation; and Mortgage Broker and Loan Coordinator at Millennium Funding Corporation before retiring.

A devoted father of Scott P. Freeman and his wife Emily Freeman and grandfather to two fun-loving grandchildren, Mackenzie and Mason Freeman of Derry, New Hampshire. He leaves behind many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Leo was a loving, generous and dedicated partner and friend who had a wonderful sense of humor. He had an amusing twist to all of his stories. He enjoyed doing "handyman" tasks and fixing up the home.  He was the type of person who always found an answer to any problem.  He loved to travel, enjoyed music and the theater and was up to trying most new activities. His absolute favorite thing to do was gathering with family and friends for a laugh or two.

He will be sorely missed by all who knew him but we know death is not the end and we will see him again very soon.

Leo's favorite scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the LORD with all  thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

His memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022 from

10 am -12 pm Service will start at 11 am at the MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St, Whitman.
