William Nelson Dodrill, 83, of Whitman and Delray Beach FL, a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict passed away Monday January 6, 2014 after a brief illness. Son of the late Safronia and French Dodrill. Bill, as he was known to many, was survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Phyllis E  (Troy) Dodrill and his four children Paula Dodrill of Whitman, son Steven William and his wife Terri of Hanson, Linda and her husband Cleve Bothwell of Largo FL and William Nelson Dodrill Jr  and his wife Dianne of Whitman. Bill who was also known as Papa was survived by his grandchildren Elizabeth, Nicoletta, Ashley, Steven, Courtney, Chandler and Samantha and also great-grandchildren.

Mr. Dodrill is a native of West Virginia but lived in Whitman for the last 59 years, where he raised his children and assisted in raising his grandchildren. He retired from the former Armstrong Inc. in Braintree. He was a long-time member of the Whitman Knights of Columbus Council #347 and worked at Strawberry Valley Golf Course in Abington. Bill enjoyed golfing, swimming, working around the house, woodworking and traveling to Cape Cod and Florida during the winter months.

Visiting hours in the MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St., Whitman on Friday Jan. 10 ^th 4-8 pm.

Funeral Mass Saturday in Holy Ghost Church, Whitman at 9 am. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Interment at St. James Cemetery, Whitman.
