Charles Weston Obituary

Charles Christopher Weston, Belchertown MA, August 3, 1950-March 8, 2021

Born in Worcester, MA, Charles died peacefully in East Longmeadow, MA.

He was the beloved eldest son, of six siblings, born to Eileen M. (O'Driscoll Laffan) Weston and Thomas Albert Weston.

Charles attended Longmeadow (MA) High School where he began his lifelong dedication to music and theater, owing to his inspiring teacher, J. Alfredo Carbonell.

Along with his professions in the Massachusetts Council on the Arts, in sales, real estate, and his craft as a carpenter and builder, Charles was a talented musician and actor. He trained as a classical vocal musician, successfully auditioning to the Boston Conservatory of Music. Shortly after attending the Conservatory, in 1975, he joined the Actors' Equity Association, which was a proud moment for him. During that time he earned his first professional role in the award-winning Equus, by Peter Shaffer. Equus starred Richard Burton in NY. Charles continued for many years as a cast member of the Producing Guild theater company of Hartford Connecticut, a company that was underwritten by many Harford industries and considered to be a jewel. He also collaborated with The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center in Waterford, Connecticut.

Charles considered his family to be his most significant accomplishment and is survived by his children's mother, Audrey Bobbitt, and his children Ian (Sarah) Weston, Graham Weston and Paul Weston of Hatfield, MA. His cherished daughter, Emily N. Weston predeceased him, tragically, in 2009. His parents also predeceased him.

Charles leaves his brothers and sisters Brian Weston of Hampden, MA, Rosemary (Francesco) Weston of Ann Arbor, MI, Christina W. (Gregory) Smith of Amherst, MA, John (Jennifer) Weston of Longmeadow, MA and Thomas (Marie) Weston, Jr. of Belchertown, MA. He also leaves his nieces and nephews, Rachel Weston, Erica Weston, Lucas Smith, Francesca D'Introno, Liam Weston, Thomas Weston III, Davis Smith and Daniel D'Introno.

Charles was a seeker of the arts and of the spiritual. He is greatly missed.

A debt of gratitude is owed to Tom and family for their dedication to and care of Charles.

In lieu of flowers, donations toward music and theater programs would be gratefully accepted at your local public schools. In addition, Charles would want us to continue to be patrons of live theater.
